Our Story

Created by Carley Hart

Inspired by my daughter

In March 2024, I was trying to get my 3-year-old daughter, Henri, to brush her teeth. I kept asking her to say "ahhh," but it wasn’t quite working. Then, in a spark of creativity, I decided to take one of her favorite songs, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and replace the lyrics with "ahhh." The idea clicked to create a book that incorporated songs and stories to make brushing fun. As our brand expands I'm thrilled to launch more books and products to help young children build essential life skills through music and play.

Research Backed

We partnered with researchers at the University of Pennsylvania to validate our methods are grounded in learning and motivational science.

Learning Science

Brushing Buddies combines scaffolding, multimedia learning, and positive reinforcement to create a fun and engaging experience. Features like step-by-step stories help children build brushing skills gradually, while music, visuals, and tactile interactions enhance learning and retention. Stickers and praise foster intrinsic motivation by celebrating effort and progress, turning brushing into a rewarding habit. By blending these proven methods, our book supports children in developing essential life skills through play and encouragement.

Behavior Change

Our Book incorporates operant conditioning with sticker rewards to motivate and gradually build healthy brushing habits. Music and familiar characters stimulate situational interest, turning brushing into an enjoyable activity and encouraging long-term engagement. By blending visual, auditory, and tactile elements, the book creates a multisensory experience that fosters both learning and emotional connection, supporting parents in making oral hygiene a positive daily routine.

Book Pilot

In our pilot, 17 families tested an early prototype of the book over five nights, focusing on the songs and sticker chart features. Feedback from parents was overwhelmingly positive, as seen in their testimonials (see homepage). Data showed an average reduction in the difficulty of brushing teeth, highlighting the book's effectiveness.
